Volta RFA Beach Soccer League launched

The maiden edition of the Volta Regional Football Association Beach Soccer League was launched at the RFA Secretariat in Ho on Thursday, 23rd November 2023.

The league which is set to kick off on 3rd December,2023 will see Ten(10) Beach Soccer Clubs registered to compete in the maiden edition.

Chairman of the VRFA Daniel Agbogah in his welcome address expressed his utmost excitement about the league.

‘’We are highly privileged to have all of you here as we usher in one of the leagues we have been yearning to start all this while.

Beach Soccer is one of the legacies we have as region. When we are talking about beach soccer in Ghana, Volta Region is second to no other Region and it is just fair to work hard to keep that identity” said the Chairman.

The Chairman also recalled the Region’s achievements in the game at national and international competitions.

“It is evidently clear that Volta is a dominant force when it comes to beach soccer in Ghana. In addition to the numerous number of players we contribute to the national team, we have also won 4 out of the 5 beach soccer Leagues played in the country. Suset Sport Beach Soccer Club from Keta is the only beach soccer team in Ghana that has ever won in an international beach soccer competition.

So it’s just ideal as a region we introduce the league at the regional level to ensure progress and sustainability to keep the legacy on” said Chairman Agbogah.

He further congratulated the 10 participating teams and challenged them to remain disciplined during the league. He reminded the clubs not to lose sight on the fact the league is embryonic and will require the effort of all and sandy to keep the vision work for the Region.

“Though it’s a competition, I urge all participating clubs to remain as much discipline as possible during the league. We all have a duty to make this vision work for our Region. In all circumstances let us think Volta first. Let’s make Volta the bigger picture in resolving possible issues”

The Chairman also acknowledged the GFA President Kurt E.S. Okraku and General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo for supporting the league with Beach Soccer balls.
