Volta Region U-17 Boys Team Thrash Central Region 3-0 in KGL Championship Opener

Volta Region’s U-17 boys team made a resounding statement in the KGL Foundation Inter-Regional Championship, thrashing Central Region 3-0 at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampam.

The trio of Aglago George, Tabo Kennedy, and Setsoafia Junior Akwetey stole the show with impressive first-half goals, securing a convincing win in their opening Group match.

Aglago George broke the deadlock in the 27th minute, slotting home from close range after a pinpoint through ball.

Tabo Kennedy doubled the lead with a confident penalty kick in the 43rd minute, Captain Setsoafia Junior Akwetey, who earned the Man of the Match award for his incredible performance sealed the victory with a powerful 25-yard strike.

With three points in the bag, Team Volta will face defending champions Ashanti Region, who cruised past Brong Ahafo 4-0 in the tournament’s opener on Sunday at 10:00 am.

The 12-day Championship, featuring the best U-17 players from ten Regional Football Associations, aims at identifying and developing young talent for Ghana’s youth national teams.

The competition will come to an end on Thursday, August 8, 2024.
