Nugata FC beats Selion as WAFA SC cruised to middle league final with a win over Yadzo Oti Warriors FC

The dust was finally settled in Group B of the Volta FA Division Two Middle League at the Ho Sports Stadium.

Final Group B matches were honored to pave way for the grand finale on Sunday.

Nugata gave up a good performance to triumph over Selion FC.

A first shot was fired by Nugata courtesy Tu Leo early in the opening half.

The Lions forced to pull a leveller with the hope of adding more but the strength of Nugata was too much to contain as another goal was recorded by Nugata FC to extend their lead after recess.

A 2-1 victory for Nugata FC ensured their safe place as the best third placed team in Group B.

The much anticipated game between Yadzo Oti Warriors FC and WAFA SC was the determiner for who plays in the Final from Group B.

Yadzo Oti Warriors only needed a point to make a date on Sunday whereas WAFA would have to get all three points to make the final.

A start of the game saw a tensed atmosphere from the two sides.

Few chances fell for Yadzo Oti Warriors but striker Basit Mohammed was late in time to connect a cross from Mawuena Agbla.

WAFA SC came to the party in the 25th minute to record their first goal.

Nasiru Yakubu stole the moment when goalkeeper Richard Mawoekpor failed to grab the ball from Intori’s cross leading to the goal by WAFA SC.

WAFA SC stuck again in the 40th minute but luck eluded the academy boys to double their lead.

Fresh bloods were introduced in the second half by both teams as the substitutions made nearly yeilded results.

It became a ding-dong affair as an end to end action from the two sides could not see any goal.

Oduro Gyamfi went into the books of center referee Solomon Doku who sent him off after an earlier caution.

A one man short of Yadzo Oti Warriors on the field had a toll effect on them as they had a long day warding off ever presence of WAFA’s attacks.

In one of the instances of WAFA SC’s seeking for another goal resulted in a penalty just in the additional time of 5 minutes.

Oscar Tamakloe calculation went wide missing the penalty in the process.

The game came to an end while WAFA SC runs with a slim win to book a final berth on Sunday at the Youth Resource Center.
