WAFA went partying; Selion displayed excellence as Diamond fought hard to secure a win, and Inter Allies surprised in sub-middle league matches.

It was a scintillating result across the Central and Southern sectors this afternoon in the sub-middle league stage of the ongoing Volta Regional Division Two League.

At the Central Sector, Selion FC showed class with a comfortable win over Great Winners.

Despite Selion FC’s draw yesterday against Kpetoe Diamond FC, they remained determined to make it count when they played a side that had already won in match day one.

The 2-0 victory has propelled the blue and white boys to the summit of the table with a game to go. A disturbed Great Winners couldn’t find the antidote to unlock the defense of their opponents as the game ended a win for Selion FC.

It was Kpetoe Diamond FC who had the last laugh in a game best described as a tensed one. Both Volta Freedom Fighters and Kpetoe Diamond FC decided to go possessive to keep the game interesting. A barren first half scoreline left the spectators wondering until in the 75′ minute when Joseph Tei found the back of the net for the kente lads to assume second on the table with 4 points.

At the WAFA Park, a free scoring WAFA dominated the game from start to finish to make a huge mark in the opener of the sub middle league. A never shy at goal WAFA ensured all 3 points were safeguarded without conceding in their 4-0 thrashing. Adidome Unity could only gave up the case after th’90s’ knowing there was little to do.

Inter Allies were held to a 0-0 draw in a game that shocked many football enthusiasts. A not pleasing scoreline would now mean Inter Allies will go all out on their next game whereas Aveyime Soccer Wonders will also ensure they get a good result for a passage to the middle league.

Ilead SC and Keta FC could only wrestle for 0-0 draw at the Southern Sector A this afternoon. The two sides went barren in the entire duration of the game despite their goal attempts. A cagey contest also saw Agbozume Weavers and Nazareth FC settling for a 2-2 draw to make the group open.

It will be the last round of games at the Central Sector tomorrow to determine who goes to the Middle League as Southern Sector will have to wait on Sunday for their fates determined.

Final 8 of teams to qualify to the middle league to be played at the Ho Sports Stadium this June.
