WAFA’s brace at the late hour mark against Keta FC in the second game of Match Day 2 was enough to fetch them all three points in their Group B fixture.
The expression and glee of the teaming fans coupled with the huge attendance of spectators could tell how beautiful football was displayed by the two sides.
Not much effort at goal was seen in the first half, especially from Keta FC. It was WAFA SC who tried to press their opponents but failed to connect their dots when it mattered the most.
WAFA SC needed 45 minutes to study the rhythm of the game in order to come back strong.
After recess, Marshah Kofi gave the academy boys the lead in the 74th minute.
Nineteen minutes later, Yabutu Sudais who came in as a substitute in the 57th minute had a good drive into the opponent’s net to seal the much-awaited victory.
17-shirted Tamaklo Oscar of WAFA SC was adjudged man of the match.
Keta FC will on Tuesday have to dig deep to get results if they so cherish qualifying for the grand finale.
Earlier in the 1:00 pm fixture between Selion FC and Sons of Thunder FC.
Selion FC had the best chances in the game while seeking an early goal but Sons of Thunder worked harder to shield Selion FC’s dominance in the half.
It was a good display of football but fewer chances were created by the two teams.
Goals came from Ackah John for Selion FC in the 53rd minute before Alidu Siedu of Sons of Thunder scored in the 80th minute.
The game ended 1-1 in regulation time. Nurudin Abdul Latif (5) was adjudged Man of the Match.
Group B now has WAFA SC leading with 3 points, they are 2 points above Selion FC and Sons of Thunder.
Actions in Group A returns tomorrow with Inter Allies and Likpe Heroes playing at 1 pm and Kpetoe Diamond FC at 3 pm, setting a date with Nazareth FC.
