The Chairman of the Volta Regional Football Association (VRFA), Daniel Agbogah, has paid a courtesy call on the Oti Regional Minister, Hon. Kwadzo Japong, on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, to address football development challenges and propose initiatives aimed at unearthing young talent in the region.
The meeting which was held in the minister’s office in Dambai, the Oti Regional capital, centered on strengthening ties between the Volta FA and the Oti Region whose football programmes falls under the Volta FA’s jurisdiction.
It was also aimed to introduce the various District FA leadership to the Oti Regional minister.

Accompanying Chairman Agbogah was the Vice Chairman of the Volta FA, Mr. Caesar Heh.
Mr. Agbogah congratulated Hon. Japong on his appointment and formally introduced the Krachi East, Krachi West, Kadjebi, Biakoye, Nkwanta South and Nkwanta North District FA’s leadership.
Among other things discussed, the chairman updated the minister on the successes of the region football so far and outlined plans for the upcoming inter-district juvenile championship for under-17 and under-15 boys and girls.
He proposed the replication of the Regional Minister’s Cup in the Oti Region, a tournament designed to foster unity while enabling scouts to identify potential players.

The Regional Chair also informed the minister about the challenges facing the development of the game in the region. Key among the challenges is the lack of proper playing fields, lack of office space and equipment for the DFA.
“Honorable, One of the major challenges that affect the development of the game in the region is that we do not have a good playing field for our games, and this is making football development in the region difficult,” He said.
Chairman Agbogah appealed for government’s support through the minister to have football field constructed in all districts in the Oti Region.
“We will happy if government would help us construct good football fields in each district in the Oti Region to enhance development of the game in the region,” he added.
In response, Hon. Japong commended the Volta FA and its executive for the good work done so far in the region.

He acknowledged the challenges facing the region’s football as expressed by the FA chairman, he gave the assurance that he will engage the various District Chief Executives (DCEs) of the Oti Region on the matter, and ensure that the concerns of the FA are giving a serious attention.
He also recounted memories of his days as a football administrator and challenged the Regional FA leadership to work hard to restore the glory days of football.
He advised the FA to encourage children participation in football at a younger age from 9 years in other to produce the best players.
He was educated on why football still has 10 regional FAs whilst the country has 16 administrative regions when he inquired about why the Oti region is under the Volta FA.
The meeting concluded with plans to set up a committee to organize the Regional Ministers Cup.
