Yingor FC held their nerves to secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Diamond FC in an entertaining and action-packed Group B encounter.
The game exploded into life as early as the 5th minute when Yingor FC were awarded a penalty after a dangerous attacking move inside the box. It looked like the perfect opportunity for an early breakthrough, but Diamond FC goalkeeper Eric Elorm Bansah came to his side’s rescue with a brilliant save to deny Yingor and keep the game level.
Despite the missed opportunity, Yingor FC continued to pile pressure on Diamond FC with swift attacking movements and threatening runs upfront.
Their persistence eventually paid off when Clement Balawusu fired the first bullet for Yingor FC with a composed finish to hand his side the lead amid jubilant celebrations from their supporters.
Diamond FC gradually settled into the game and responded positively with a more composed display in midfield.
They created several promising attacking opportunities and constantly searched for openings in the Yingor defense, but poor finishing and missed chances prevented them from finding the back of the net before halftime.
After recess, Diamond FC returned with renewed determination and increased intensity.
Their efforts were finally rewarded in the 64th minute when they forced their way through the Yingor defense to grab the equalizer, sending their bench and supporters into excitement.
However, the joy for Diamond FC was short-lived as Yingor FC responded almost instantly. Just two minutes after conceding, Clement Balawusu once again stepped up to restore Yingor’s advantage with his second goal of the afternoon to complete his brace and put Yingor FC back in front.
The remainder of the game turned into a tense battle as Diamond FC pushed forward in search of another equalizer. They managed to create a number of clear-cut opportunities and threatened on several occasions, but wastefulness in front of goal once again proved costly.
Yingor FC stayed compact defensively and managed the closing moments professionally to hold on for an important 2-1 victory at the final whistle.
For his outstanding display and match-winning brace, Luis Yadogla was deservedly adjudged the “Hotwav Man of the Match” after inspiring Yingor FC to a memorable victory in one of the most thrilling Group B fixtures so far.
