The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, made a surprise visit to the Ho Sports Stadium on Saturday, March 1, 2025, to watch the ongoing Volta Regional Division Two League games.
The visit aimed to assess the poor state of the regional sporting facility and gather first-hand knowledge of the neglected stadium.
During his visit, Hon. Gunu met with staff from and National Sports Authority (NSA), managers of the Ho Sports Stadium, who mentioned several pressing needs requiring immediate attention.
In response, the Region Minister generously donated six pairs of streetlights and an undisclosed amount of money for poles and electrical work at the stadium.
He further assured stakeholders of the facility’s upgrade.
Hon. Gunu’s commitment to sports and youth development was evident as he returned prepared to watch a Division Two League match, between Dynamo FC and Victory Stars FC which unfortunately was rained off due to heavy downpour.
This unexpected turn of events allowed the minister to witness firsthand the dire need to fix the only regional sports stadium.
The Minister was welcomed by the Volta FA Chairman, Mr. Daniel Agbogah.
The minister’s visit demonstrates his genuine commitment to promoting sports development, as promised during the maiden Regional Minister’s Cup.
The Ho Sports Stadium, built in 1957, has not undergone any renovation works since its establishment, and its poor state is evident.
