The Volta Regional Football Association (VRFA) is set to embark on a major trophy tour and environmental campaign ahead of the 2026 Middle League competition.
The initiative, dubbed the “Legacy Project,” was unveiled during a stakeholders meeting with the eight qualified clubs and expected to combine football promotion with environmental sustainability across the region.
According to the VRFA, the exercise would officially commence on May 18, 2026, beginning from the Northern Zone before reaching the other three zones with qualified clubs participating in this year’s Middle League championship.
As part of the initiative, the Association will undertake a trophy tour in all the qualified teams’ communities while also carrying out tree planting exercise aimed at promoting environmental awareness and leaving a lasting impact in host communities.
Under the project, the VRFA plans to plant 100 trees in each of the eight qualified towns, with an additional 200 trees to be planted in Ho, the host city for the Middle League competition. In total, the exercise is expected to result in the planting of 1,000 trees across the Volta Region.
Speaking during the meeting, VRFA Chairman, Daniel Agbogah, encouraged all participating clubs to actively support and fully participate in the exercise by showcasing the vision and community impact of the Association.
He further advised the Clubs to use the opportunity to strengthen their visibility and identity by branding themselves throughout the exercise while also involving key stakeholders within their respective communities.
According to the Chairman, the initiative is intended not only to promote football but also to deepen community engagement and social responsibility among Clubs and supporters.
The exercise is expected to involve players, club officials, supporters, traditional authorities, youth groups, and community members in all participating areas, creating what the Association describes as a strong bond between football and community development.
To ensure the success of the environmental campaign, the VRFA has already engaged the Environmental Protection Agency and the Forestry Commission as partners for the tree planting exercise.
The “Legacy Tour” is expected to build excitement ahead of the Middle League competition while also promoting environmental conservation and unity across the Volta football fraternity.
