WAFA SC’s Late Goal Seals Victory Against Nugata FC as Selion FC Stunned by Yadzo Oti Warriors in Group B Clash

Matches for Day 2 in Group B of the ongoing Regional Middle League were honored this afternoon at the Ho Sports Stadium.

The first game which produced 5 goals saw both WAFA SC and Nugata FC play thier Group B opener, characterized by excitement and goals.

WAFA showed their superiority over their foes after a goalless first half. It was an intense game, seeing both teams unable to take up their chances.

A resilient Nugata FC kept pushing and almost got rewarded few minutes before the break, WAFA SC’s solid defense got the credit, warding off their opponent to go into recess.

Four minutes into the second half, Mensah Antwi gave WAFA SC a huge relief when he took the lead with a powerful strike which took Nugata’s goalkeeper by a surprise in the 49th minute.

It was a pleasing moment for WAFA SC when they took the game to Nugata FC in search of a second goal.

Nugata’s effort got acknowledged in the dying embers of the game as they pulled a leveller through captain Kennedy Tu in the 70th minute.

It changed the tempo of the game as the Akatsi North team remain hopeful of adding another goal.

Five minutes additional time was enough for WAFA SC to take the lead in the 83rd minute through Yakubu.

WAFA’s third goal in the 90+1 was enough gift for the academy boys as Nugata managed to pull another, thanks to Martin Akolko to alter the scoreline, 3-2.

 

The second game in the Group B opener was between Selion FC and Yadzo Oti Warriors which was preceded by a spectacular official Opening Ceremony.

 

Selion FC failed to live up to expectations in front of home fans against Yadzo Oti Warriors.

An early own goal in just a minute from Selion’s defender, Akoto Sadick became the only goal to separate the two sides.

Yadzo Oti Warriors worked so hard to keep their lines clean despite the many attacks from Selion.

A blend of skills and a little touch of aggressiveness became the norm on the field as the two teams resorted to it.

No amount of time would have changed the fate of Selion as much as they struggled to equalize.

Yadzo Oti Warriors was the victor after the 90 minutes while going home with all three points.

Group A actions return tomorrow at 1:00 PM where Aveyime Soccer Wonders would takes on Akatsi Kickers FC before NADM SC squares it off with Kpetoe Diamond FC at 3:00PM
