Volta FA Executive Council Visits Former Black Stars Player Obed Aguadze

The Executive Council of the Volta Regional Football Association (VRFA)  on Thursday 5th February 2026 visited former Black Stars player Obed Mensah Aguadze, at his residence.

Chairman of the Volta Regional Football Association Daniel Agbogah who led the Council during the visit said the purpose “is a show of concern in the spirit of solidarity”.

He expressed his excitement for the opportunity to meet the former Star player, although not in a great state of health.

“Our purpose of coming here is a show of concern in the spirit of solidarity”.

“We are so much privileged and highly honoured for the opportunity to meet and interact with you”. Chairman Agbogah said.

”During your days of exploits for the senior national team, most of us in the current Executive Council were not born but today we are happy that God is keeping you for us.” Mr. Agbogah said.

“You’re a great asset to our region and we are proud to have you alive”. He added.

On behalf of the Executive Council, the Chairman expressed his utmost gratitude to the children of Mr Aguadze for their commitment to taking care of the legend.

The Executive Council then presented items and an undisclosed amount of money to Mr Aguadze in support of  his well-being.

Mr. Aguadze expressed gratitude to the Volta FA for the visit and the financial support, and prayed blessings for the leadership of the FA.

Family members who received the items on his behalf thanked the Regional FA, and disclosed that Mr. Aguadze often shares ideas on how football can be developed in the Volta Region and encourages the leadership of the RFA to visit the old man often to tap into these ideas.

They appealed to the association to maintain regular contact and engagement with him.

Mr Aguadze is a member of Ghana’s 1970 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) squad that made it to the Finals in Sudan.
