The Chief Warlord of the Agortime Traditional Area, Nene Akoto Sah VII, has officially launched the Regional Middle League, marking the 2024/25 League Season’s weeklong football festival in Ho.
The Regional Middle League will bring together qualified teams from various zones in the districts and municipalities to compete for the title of Regional Champion and a coveted spot in the Division One League (DOL).
Nene Akoto Sah VII launched the league on the final day of the trophy tour in Kpetoe, when the train landed in the Agortime Ziope District, home of Kpetoe Diamond FC.
During the launch, Nene Akoto Sah VII expressed his full support for the development of football in the Volta Region, the trophy tour initiative.
He urged all participating teams to demonstrate skill, discipline, modesty, pride, and exemplary sportsmanship.
He also encouraged all stakeholders to remain committed to upholding the integrity of the beautiful game.
It was a fitting conclusion to the trophy tour journey which coincided with the inaugural meeting of the Agortime Area Council in front of most assemblymen and opinion leaders.
The Volta FA Trophy Tour has not only fostered the growth of football in the region but has also showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Volta people.
The teams participating in the league include Yadzo Oti Warriors, Akatsi Kickers FC, Aveyime Soccer Wonders, Nugata FC, Kpetoe Diamond FC, NADM SC, Selion FC, and WAFA SC.
The Trophy Tour is being conducted in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in the Volta Region, aiming to promote tourism through football.
