Volta FA Holds Ordinary Session of Congress

The Volta Regional Football Association (VRFA) has concluded its Ordinary Session of Congress at the Municipal Assembly Hall in Ho, the Volta Regional Capital with Over 90 congressmen in attendance, ushering in a new football season.

VRFA Chairman, Daniel Agbogah, in his address congratulated the Senior Men’s National Team, the Black Stars for their qualifications to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

He used the opportunity to educate members on recent amendments to the Statutes and Standing Orders of Congress,

He said the latest procedure no longer allows deliberations during congress. Instead, members are encouraged to submit proposals in writing for inclusion in the Standing Orders.

Mr. Agbogah stressed the importance of members being familiar with the statutes and regulations governing the game.

This, he said, would prevent misinformation and ensure informed decision-making.

He also addressed concerns about hosting the Regional Middle League in the regional capital, explaining that the capital’s diverse population does attract more attention and provide good representation aside from football connoisseurs and fans attending the Regional Middle League.

The chairman also provided members with the association’s plans ahead of the season.

The Chairman also provided members with the association’s plans ahead of the season, revealing that the Regional Division Two League would kick off on the weekend of November 14, 2025, with Competition Management System (CMS) training scheduled for November 2-4, 2025.

He also announced that the VRFA would award prize money to the winner of the 2025/2026 Division Two League, a first for the region.

“For the first time Volta Regional Football Association will announced a prize money for the upcoming 2025/2026 Volta Region Division Two League,” Chairman announced.

Mr. Agbogah further disclosed that talks are ongoing to introduce new competitions at the school level in partnership with the Ghana Education Service.

“Talks are underway for the introduction of new games at the school levels, we are planning few competition in partnership with the Ghana Education Service in the region,” he said.

He commended clubs for their active participation in the just-ended league, noting that over 50 clubs are actively present on social media, marketing themselves and the regional leagues.

“We have over 50 of our clubs actively on social media,” he said.

He acknowledged the efforts of the District Football Association (DFAs) chairmen in assisting to develop and unearth talents at the grassroot level for the region.

The Ghana Football Association President, Mr. Simeon Okraku, was represented by National Executive Council Member Gideon Fosu.

Mr. Fosu praised the VRFA leadership and stakeholders for their support and contributions to football development in the region, citing how formidable Home Stars FC has become.

He called on politicians to help stakeholders in the development of football and its activities.

He outlined the successes of the Kurt Okraku Administration in supporting the Regional FAs and developing the game at the grassroot level to the top.

He mentioned referees’ development, training of grassroot coaches, introduction of competitions to grow the national teams, etc.

Other notable attendees included National Sports Authority Director Madam Philipina Frimpong, who acknowledged the commitment and structures of the Regional FA and Former Regional FA Chairman Francis Dogbatse, who advised the current leadership to meet with authorities and market the game adequately.

The Regional Physical Education Coordinator, Mr. Roger Tay, representing schools and colleges, was also in attendance.

The Ordinary Session of Congress is an assembly of football stakeholders that meets once every football season, usually before the commencement of the said season.
