Volta FA set for 3rd Inter-District Championship

The Volta Regional Football Association (VRFA) is set to host the third edition of its Inter-District Championship from 19 to 23 August 2026, with all District Football Associations (DFAs) across the region expected to participate.

The five-day tournament will bring together some of the region’s most promising young football talents, as the VRFA continues its efforts to strengthen grassroots football development and promote competition among the districts.

Participating District FAs are expected to report with their teams for the championship, which has become an important fixture on the regional football calendar since its inception.

Beyond competition, the tournament will serve as a key talent identification platform for the selection of players into the Volta Regional U-15 and U-17 teams.

The selected players will represent the region at national competitions, including the GFA Elite U-15 Championship and the KGL U-17 Inter-Regional Championship.

The Inter-District Championship therefore provides young players with an opportunity to compete at regional level while putting themselves in contention for selection to the Volta Regional teams.

Ho Municipal are the reigning U-15 champions after defeating Krachi District 2–0 in last year’s final.

In the U-17 category, South Tongu District claimed the title with a 2–0 victory over Afadzato District in the final.

Kadzebi District won the maiden edition of the competition in 2024.

The third and 2026 edition is expected to provide another platform for emerging players from across the region to show their abilities, compete for honours and push for places in the Volta Regional teams.
