Volta FA Trophy Tour Arrives in Kadjebi

The Kadjebi Assembly Hall was filled with excitement as the Volta Regional Football Association’s trophy tour team made a stop in the district.

The team was warmly welcomed by the District Director, Cletus Chevre, who welcomed the Volta FA team with the coveted Regional Middle League trophy to the community.

The ceremony began with a welcome address by the chairman of the District Football Association, Farouk Salifu Umar.

In his remarks, Mr. Umar expressed his gratitude to the VRFA team for bringing the trophy tour to Kadjebi.

Mr. Daniel Agbogah, the chairman of the Regional Football Association, mentioned the efforts the Volta FA has put into creating awareness and promoting football in both the Oti and Volta Regions despite various challenges.

He reiterated the importance of football in promoting tourism which is one of the main aims of the tour, and reducing social vices among the youth.

The highlight of the ceremony was the unveiling of the Regional Middle League trophy, which was met with cheers and loud applause from the enthusiastic crowd, including traditional leaders, players, fans, and other stakeholders.

District Director, Mr. Cletus Chevre, speaking on behalf of the District Chief Executive, Hon. Sam Suraj Issaka, praised the initiative, stating, “This trophy tour is a great way to inspire our young people to take their football seriously.”

He also congratulated the Yadzo Oti Warriors on their qualification and stressed the importance of football, as earlier mentioned by the chairman, in curbing social vices and serving as a social business.

He appealed to the Volta FA to assist in marketing the players because he sees a great future in them.

He added, “We are honored to host the Volta FA team and look forward to a successful Regional Middle League tournament.”

Captain of the Yadzo Oti Warriors, Mawuena Agbla, expressed his excitement and assured the community of the team’s commitment to winning, promising that the trophy would return to the district.

Togbe Agbla Anthony III, chief of the Ahamaso traditional area, shared his excitement about the Yadzo Oti Warriors’ qualification and their representation of the community in the Regional Middle League.

The team is eagerly looking forward to the start of the Regional Middle League, which kicks off on June 7, 2025.

The trophy tour will continue its journey to Hohoe, Aveyime, Akatsi, Sogakofe, Ave Dakpa and wrap up in Ho.

The tour is in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority(GTA) in Volta, to promote tourism through football.
