The Member of Parliament (MP) for South Tongu Constituency, Hon. Kobina Woyome has affirmed his continuous support for the Volta Regional Football Association (VRFA) by donating a trophy, 60 pieces of medals, for the Women’s League and an amount of GHC 3,000.00 for the affiliation fee of Juvenile teams in the South Tongu District.
Hon. Woyome made the donation at the finals of the Volta Regional Women’s Football Middle League which took place at the WAFA Park in Sogakope.
Present at the event was the General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association, Prosper Harrison Addo Esq. Volta FA Chairman, Daniel Agbogah, Members of the GFA Competition Department led by Madam, Barbara Yankah, Volta FA Secretary, Promise Ahiagba, and other Executive Council Members.
The MP’s support is in line with his commitment to assist in the development of Football in the Volta Region.
Over the years the South Tongu MP has been in touch with the Regional FA having supported the Association in the past with cash and streetlights for the stadium among others.
The MP’s support will not only expand the growth of football in the Volta Region but will also go a long way to empower young girls and boys to hone their skills in football in the region.
The RFA chairman, Daniel Agbogah who was elated about the support thanked the MP for his persistent kind gesture towards the development of football in the region.
Luta Thunder won the women’s Division One League for the first time in their maiden edition.
The Juvenile League in South Tongu has already begun. It started on May 11, 2024, with seventeen teams grouped in four (4) Zones.
