Inter Allies FC Returns to the National Division One League After Defeating WAFA SC on Penalties

Inter Allies have secured a spot in the Access Bank Division One League after defeating WAFA SC 4-1 on penalties following a 1-1 draw at the Ho Sports Stadium on Sunday.

WAFA SC dominated in the early hours of the game, created more chances, and scored in the 16th minute through, Kwesi Nyamekye to maintain a 1-0 lead at halftime.

However, Inter Allies fought back in the second half, equalizing in the 53rd minute through Michael Siaw Narh’s strike.

The match ended 1-1 after regulation time, leading to a tense penalty shootout. Inter Allies emerged victorious, converting four penalties to WAFA SC’s one.

This promotion is a significant milestone for Inter Allies. The team was relegated from the Ghana Premier League in the 2020/21 season. They spent just one season in the National Division One League in Zone 3 before being entangled in a match-fixing scandal, which led to their demotion back to the second division.

The Volta Division Two Champions have now earned a chance to redeem themselves in the Division One League.

Congratulations to Inter Allies FC on their well-deserved promotion.
