Anlo Ladies Crowned Champions of Volta FA Women’s Division One League

Anlo Ladies Football Club triumphed at the just-ended Regional Women’s Division One Middle League, securing the championship title on Sunday, April 13, 2024, after a fiercely contested three-day tournament at the Youth Resource Center in Adaklu.

Despite a goalless draw against Mepe Peace Ladies in their final group-stage match, they finished the tournament with seven points and a tournament-high eight goals. Earning them another victory as champions of the Regional Women’s League.

 

In the other fixture on sunday, Adidome Unity Ladies, the surprise of the tournament, delivered a commanding 6-0 victory over Dream Big Ladies, who exited the competition as the tournament’s lowest-performing side, conceding a league-worst 12 goals.

The tournament, held from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th April, featured four teams competing in a round-robin format.

Anlo Ladies’ consistent performances, including two wins and a draw, exhibiting thier tactical discipline and attacking prowess.

Their decisive 4-0 win over Dream Big Ladies earlier in the tournament set the tone for their title charge.

As champions, Anlo Ladies will now represent the Volta Region in the upcoming Southern Zonal Championship where they will vie for a place to be part of Ghana’s top-tier women’s league.

Chairman of the Women’s Committee, Dr. Charles Adzim congratuatedAnlo Ladies for their exploit  and wished them well in the upcoming Zonal Championship in the Southern Zone.

After their gallant win, the team led by Team Manager, Mr. Hoedzoede Francis paid a courtesy call on the Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, in the company of MCE for Ho, Hon. Stephen Adom.

The Minister thus congratulated them on their success and encouraged them to keep raising the flag of Volta high in women’s football.
