In an intense match at the KGL U17 Inter-Regional Championship, Team Volta drew 1-1 with Northern Region in regulation time, before losing 5-4 on penalties.
Despite the setback, Volta maintained a crucial point, topping Group A with 7 points, and became the first region to qualify for the semi-finals with a game to spare.
Tabo Kennedy’s stunning goal in the 10th minute gave Volta an early lead, but Northern Region equalized in the 65th minute through Dramani Alhasaan’s strike at the 18-yard box.
Both teams showcased impressive football skills with a few clear chances leading to a 1-1 stalemate and ultimately, penalties.
Volta’s 7 points came from victories over Ashanti and Central Region respectively, solidifying their position in Group A.
The team will look to build on this momentum in their final group-stage match against Brong Ahafo on Saturday at 2:00 pm
