Final 200 seedlings to be planted in Ho as Volta FA nears 1,000-tree target

The final 200 seedlings of the Volta Regional Football Association’s (VRFA) 1,000-tree planting exercise will be planted in Ho today under the theme “Kick for the Planet, Planting Goals, Planting Trees.”

Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu and Ho Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Stephen Adom are expected to lead the exercise in the regional capital.

The initiative, launched by the Volta FA, has already seen 800 trees planted across the Volta and Oti regions, communities, and home grounds to the eight qualified teams participating in the Volta FA Middle League in Ho.

The remaining seedlings will be planted in Ho to complete the target.

The exercise forms part of efforts to promote environmental sustainability and community involvement within the region’s football ecosystem.

During the tour, Volta FA Chairman Daniel Agbogah said football remains a powerful tool for social transformation and was the driving force behind the initiative.

“Football is stronger than just kicking the ball. It unites people. We can use football to drive positive change in society, including helping communities respond to climate change. That is why we are planting 1,000 trees,” he said.
